Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

ICTNPL601 - Plan the development and growth of the telecommunications network

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Gather data related to existing and projected network usage

  1. Access market intelligence for information on customer demand on the network and likely growth in network use
  2. Obtain demand data to plan for potential network traffic quantity and flow
  3. Access information relating to new and emerging technologies, facilities and features, and their specific applications
  4. Access relevant legislation and associated operational codes and analyse impact on planning processes

Assess need for network growth

  1. Evaluate capacity of existing network to absorb planned growth using network capacity usage and traffic measurements
  2. Plan likely timing of necessary network increments to minimise impact on the network
  3. Assess use of new or alternate technologies to meet forecast growth
